WG Ford Stainless Steel Products Materials

Our products offer a wide range of options, from the standard 50mm tube stainless balustrade to RHS, flat bar and various wiring options. The information below demonstrates a selection of what is achievable for your stainless investment.

Types of Balustrade Materials

Stainless Steel Tube

This is our standard material for balustrades with its classic style and timeless beauty. Stainless Steel tube is the traditional material for balustrades and handrails. We mainly use two sizes -38mm for lighter applications and 50mm tube for standard barriers or a combination of both. Tube is ideal for any location but is extremely suitable for outdoors as it doesn't allow water to sit and resists unsightly staining. For glazing we use slotted tube for a superb finish.

Stainless Steel Rectangle Hollow Section (RHS)

Square stainless profiles

With all the strength of 50mm but with a different style. RHS external balustradeStainless steel Rectangle Hollow Section (RHS) or Square Hollow Section (SHS) is an alternative to the traditional tube balustrade. Its angular profile matches many of today's modern housing architecture. We recommend RHS where you want to preserve your view as its low profile minimises visual obstruction. We recommend the use of RHS and/or SHS more for internal applications. In an external environment it can allow water to sit on its surface and stain over time, however it can be managed with cleaning in the case this external aesthetic is desired.

Stainless Steel Flat Bar

Ideal for a slim-line finish.Flatbar internal balustrade Stainless steel flat bar has similar properties as the RHS but with an even slimmer profile. Our innovative post designs make a unique feature to your residence. It impairs your view only slightly with posts as thin as 5mm but with the strength and security to meet the Building Code of Australia.

Fixing Options

Most of our installations utilise stainless steel base plates when fixing to decks and flooring. For concrete and masonry surfaces there is the option for the posts to be cored and glued with epoxy resin for an ultra clean finish.

Our base plates for stainless posts are all made out of 6mm stainless sheet, which is twice the thickness of our competitors and therefore twice as strong. Our posts come complete with a cap and a 16mm solid round pin for durability and strength. You can rest assured knowing our custom made baseplates will hold strong under all conditions.
